S.A.F.E. Structure Designs (SAFE) is drawing attention to the importance of financial stewardship and a resilient domestic supply chain after working through approximately $4.7 million in unpaid customer receivables tied to completed manufacturing work. Through it all, SAFE says it kept operating, fulfilled its customer commitments, and paid the employees, material suppliers, fabrication shops, and skilled vendors who support its projects.
The company announced the news on October 27, 2026. SAFE notes that the reference to unpaid receivables describes its own experience and is not intended as an allegation against any customer or other party.
A Financial Challenge, and a Testimony of Faith
For President and CEO Johnny Buscema, the experience was more than a business problem. It became a personal testimony to the Christian principles SAFE was built on: honoring commitments, stewarding resources responsibly, and trusting Jesus Christ through difficult circumstances.
“By God’s grace, we built SAFE on a foundation that prepared us for difficult circumstances. Facing approximately $4.7 million in unpaid receivables was a serious challenge. Yet we continued paying the people and businesses that depended on us. We give Jesus Christ all the glory for carrying us through this season and allowing us to keep our word.”
SAFE credits a disciplined approach to managing cash flow and obligations with allowing it to keep its defense manufacturing work moving without shifting the financial burden onto the manufacturing partners who work alongside it.

Supporting Small American Manufacturing Businesses
SAFE performs its own engineering and manufacturing and works with U.S.-based material suppliers, fabrication shops, and specialized trade partners when a project calls for additional capabilities. Those relationships support American welders, machinists, engineers, and other skilled workers serving military and government missions.
In a separate effort, Buscema recently provided financial help to a small fabrication partner going through a period of financial strain, including an unsecured loan meant to help the business deal with high-interest debt and keep operating. As he sees it, every shop represents families, workers, and years of craftsmanship, and when a dependable partner hits a hard season and SAFE is able to help, its faith calls it to act. Supporting American manufacturing, in his words, means standing alongside the people who do the work.
Building America Through Defense Manufacturing
Headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, SAFE develops custom engineered products, military support equipment, and manufacturing solutions for U.S. defense and government applications. Its capabilities span design, engineering, fabrication, precision manufacturing, and systems integration across land, air, and maritime requirements, all guided by the faith Buscema says shapes how SAFE leads and treats people, and by the goal of building a company that supports American families and strengthens the nation’s manufacturing future.
