S.A.F.E. Structure Designs (SAFE) has formed a strategic partnership with Copeland Applied Systems to modernize how the company runs, using AI agents, intelligent automation, and technologies increasingly described as Super Intelligence (SI). Alex Copeland, Founder, President and CEO of Copeland Applied Systems, is heading the initiative, announced on October 20, 2026.
The aim is to strengthen SAFE’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities, grow its workforce, and expand its capacity to serve United States Department of War and other government customers. SAFE expects those operational improvements to help its teams manage more demanding projects and deliver mission-critical equipment more efficiently, and to turn that efficiency into more manufacturing, more jobs, and stronger support for customers.

Investing in People and Production Capacity
The initiative brings intelligent tools into SAFE’s day-to-day workflows: proposal development, contract administration, engineering documentation, purchasing, project management, quality documentation, and company knowledge management. Taking repetitive administrative work off people’s plates and making information easier to find gives SAFE’s teams more time for engineering, production, problem-solving, and customer service, and better coordination across those functions helps the company take on more, and more complex, work.
SAFE has been explicit that the goal is workforce expansion, not job reduction. As capacity and demand grow, the company intends to add roles across manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, logistics, and program management, along with high-level positions in automation, intelligent systems, robotics integration, and technical leadership. That work builds on the design, engineer, manufacture process behind every SAFE product.
“God has blessed SAFE Structure with the opportunity to serve our country, and we give Jesus Christ the glory for the doors He continues to open. We are investing in technology to help our people accomplish more and to build a stronger company around them. Our goal is to turn greater efficiency into more American manufacturing, more skilled jobs and more high-level career opportunities. This initiative is intended to bring SAFE to a level of capability and responsiveness unprecedented in our company’s history, strengthening our support for the United States Department of War and the men and women who serve our nation.”
Stronger Customer Support Through Intelligent Operations
For SAFE’s military and government customers, the initiative is meant to sharpen how the company coordinates requirements, keeps projects visible, and manages work from first planning through delivery and ongoing support. AI agents will help employees find information, prepare documentation, and coordinate workflows.
People stay in charge. SAFE’s personnel keep responsibility for engineering judgment, quality decisions, contractual commitments, and customer relationships. The company will prioritize applications that make a practical difference in execution, and implementation will account for the sensitivity of customer information and applicable contract requirements, with human oversight built into every workflow.
About the Copeland Applied Systems Partnership
Alex Copeland will work directly with SAFE’s leadership and employees to find operational bottlenecks, put useful automation in place, and build a roadmap for continued improvement. Copeland, the son of the late Al Copeland, founder of Popeyes, brings a family legacy of entrepreneurship together with his own work in AI, automation, and robotics, and his role here centers on applying that expertise to SAFE’s operations and growth.
Buscema has described Copeland’s ability to connect advanced technology with practical business needs as exceptional, and the two share a purpose: helping SAFE’s people succeed, expanding its manufacturing capabilities, and strengthening the work SAFE does for the country.
American Manufacturing in the Era of Super Intelligence
SAFE is pursuing practical applications of AI agents and SI to expand American manufacturing capacity, create skilled and high-level jobs, and strengthen the defense industrial base. The company plans to build a foundation that can take on new technologies as they mature.
Beyond internal operations, the partnership will also support evaluating AI and robotics applications for SAFE’s own equipment, guided by customer needs, technical readiness, and mission requirements. That is the focus of SAFE Autonomous Systems, the division bringing AI-enabled autonomy and robotics to mission systems and to the equipment SAFE already builds.
