SAFE Structure Designs Awarded U.S. Coast Guard Contract for MH-60 Parts and Cowling Racks at Air Station Astoria

S.A.F.E. Structure Designs (SAFE) has been awarded a contract to build custom parts racks and cowling racks for U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Astoria in Oregon. Announced on October 26, 2026, the equipment will support the air station’s MH-60 helicopter fleet and the maintenance teams who keep those aircraft mission-ready.
The racks give the station dedicated storage and organization for helicopter parts and cowlings during daily maintenance. The project is the latest step in SAFE’s ongoing work with the Coast Guard to standardize hangar support equipment, and part of the work of SAFE Aviation Systems.
A Standardized Set of MH-60 Hangar Equipment
SAFE has supported the U.S. Coast Guard for more than a decade. Over that time, the Coast Guard and SAFE have worked together to establish a standardized set of hangar support equipment for the MH-60 fleet, built with consistent form, fit, and function from one air station to the next.
Standardization means maintenance personnel work with familiar equipment that behaves the same way across the fleet. SAFE’s approach centers on practical solutions developed around the aircraft and the people who maintain them, and the Air Station Astoria racks carry that same design forward.
