S.A.F.E. Structure Designs (SAFE), the Las Vegas defense engineering and manufacturing company led by President and CEO Johnny Buscema, is supporting 50 Legs as a donor and helping raise awareness of its work: getting children and adults with limb loss into quality, professionally fitted prosthetic legs.

Based in Clearwater, Florida, 50 Legs helps people pursue greater mobility, independence, and confidence through prosthetics and personal support. Announced on October 23, 2026, SAFE’s support comes with a simple hope: that sharing the organization’s mission will move more businesses and individuals to give. 50 Legs is one of the causes on SAFE’s sponsorships page.

“Steve and I share a love for Jesus Christ, and I’m honored to call him a friend. I see his faith reflected in the way he serves people—with compassion, encouragement, and tireless dedication. He brings hope by helping children receive prosthetic legs and by showing the love of Jesus Christ through his actions. We give God the glory for allowing SAFE to support this work.”

Steve Chamberland: Turning Personal Experience Into Service

50 Legs founder Steve Chamberland lost a leg in a motorcycle accident in 1999. Living with a prosthetic leg himself shaped his commitment to helping others get the care and equipment they need. He knows firsthand how much a properly fitted prosthetic affects everyday movement, physical activity, and confidence, and through 50 Legs he works to put that support within reach of children and adults facing financial barriers to prosthetic care.

Buscema describes Chamberland as a hardworking man who holds a full-time job and still invests his own time and energy in the nonprofit, helping people through challenges he understands from experience. Chamberland has even taken on the Boston Marathon course on his prosthetic leg to raise money for 50 Legs, and the organization’s marathon fundraising brings supporters together to help more recipients get prosthetic care.

Prosthetic Assistance That Opens New Possibilities

50 Legs works with trusted prosthetic providers to help recipients get custom-fitted prosthetic legs. According to the organization, recipients are not billed for their prosthetics, and it works with insurance when coverage is available. Its support includes activity-specific prosthetics for sports and recreation, and for children, it also covers the recurring need for replacement prosthetics as they grow.

The right prosthetic can help a child join in with friends and help an adult regain everyday independence and pursue personal goals. 50 Legs also connects recipients with resources and with people who understand limb loss. As Buscema puts it, those moments matter to the child and to the whole family.

Community Support and Faith in Action

SAFE’s donations go toward 50 Legs’ mission, and by spotlighting the nonprofit and its founder, SAFE hopes to widen awareness of prosthetic assistance and encourage the community to get involved. Buscema ties that support to SAFE’s faith in Jesus Christ, a call to love others and put that love into action, and hopes Steve’s dedication will inspire others to help bring mobility, encouragement, and renewed hope to people with limb loss.
